Jackson Orchards, usually claim the first cherries of the season in Central Otago around mid November. By mid December our main crops of rich flavoured Dawson, tasty Rosann and sweet white fleshed Florence Cherries are available. Later varieties include red & crunchy Bing, the large Lapins, and finally our sweet, plump Regal cherries in the New Year.
Royal Rosa Apricots and Spring Crest Peaches herald the start of the stonefruit harvest. A pleasant eater, the Clutha Sun Apricot competes well with the attractively coloured Valley Gold Apricot. The favourite, Moorpark Apricot is an excellent preserving fruit. The apricot season ends with the tasty Clutha Late at the end of February.
Between December and February fresh peaches, nectarines, greengages and plums are readily available. Favourites are the white fleshed Bright Pearl Nectarines and White Lady Peach, Yellow fleshed Elegant Lady Peach and Fire Bright or Fantasia Nectarine. Some varieties like the Black Doris & Omega Plums and Golden Queen Peaches are not available until March.
Our Mixed fruit boxes are very popular at any time of the season. These are hand chosen with a mixture of what ever is available at the time.
